Cromwell's Goldfields Primary School converts to wood chip heating

Spark Energy is pleased to announce that it has been appointed as design-build contractor to deliver the boiler upgrade at Goldfields School in Cromwell, Central Otago.  The project involves the replacement of an ageing coal boiler with a modern ETA HACK 200kW wood chip boiler.  Paired with a large buffer tank, the new boiler will service the space heating requirements of the school with the plant taking advantage of the existing coal hopper to store wood chips.  Spark Energy is working in closely with Southern Insulation (asbestos removal), Andy Erskine construction (building works) and IMS (mechanical and electrical works) to deliver this project for the school.  The project represents a growing list of Central Otago heat users converting to heating with wood chips, particularly attractive in the area with alternative fossil fuel fired heating  solutions attracting substantial running costs.
