Following an extensive search Lumbr, the Otago-based manufacturer of fuel-grade wood chips, has acquired a large industrial site in Milton, Otago, to move its operations onto. The 1.3 hectare site, formerly the Millstream drymill, features a large 2,500m2 chip storage shed and significant log seasoning area. Lumbr owner Eduard Ebbinge said: "we are very excited about this acquisition as it offers the infrastructure much needed to drive further growth of wood energy in Otago". A significant area of the log storage area is concreted, helping to limit contamination of wood material with sand and foreign objects that may cause performance issues in boilers downstream. Following acquisition, the office block has undergone a refresh with other areas being upgraded to support the efficient production of chips.
